Anticipation is running high in Dar es Salaam as tickets for the highly anticipated Simba Day 2025 clash between Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have officially sold out. The two East African powerhouses are set to face off on Wednesday, September 10, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
According to Simba SC, all ticket categories—from Tanzanite and Platinum to VIP A, VIP B, VIP C, and the Mzunguko stands—were sold out by September 8, two days before kickoff. The full house is expected to create a carnival-like atmosphere at the 60,000-seater arena.

Interestingly, the overwhelming demand for tickets stands in sharp contrast to recent continental tournaments such as the African Nations Championship (CHAN), where attendance in Tanzania fell far short of full capacity.
The sell-out underscores the enormous value fans place on Simba Day, an annual tradition where Simba SC unveils its squad, entertains supporters, and crowns the spectacle with a marquee international friendly.
Extra significance
For Gor Mahia, the match carries extra significance. The 21-time Kenyan champions have named a 25-man travelling squad, set to depart for Tanzania tonight. Those currently on international duty with the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars, will join the squad later in Dar es Salaam.
The squad list features key players across all departments. Goalkeepers Gad Mathews and Kevin Omondi will provide options between the posts, while the defensive line includes Philemon Otieno, Paul Ochuoga, Bryton Onyona, Sylvester Owino, Joshua Onyango, Mike Kibwage, Lewis Bandi, and Siraj Mohammed.
In midfield, Gor Mahia will rely on the creativity and experience of Ernest Wendo, Lawrence Juma, Enock Morrison, Fidel Origa, Ben Stanley, Austine Odhiambo, and Alpha Onyango.
The attacking unit is headlined by Samuel Kapen, Patrick Essombe, Chris Ochieng, George Amonoo, Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, Shariff Musa, Felix Oluoch, and Mark Shaban, giving coach Charles Akonnor plenty of options to challenge Simba’s defence.
